Kate is a ceramic artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Originally from London, she relocated to NY for her work as a fashion stylist. In 2000, she turned to ceramics as a self-taught practice, seeking to translate the textures, processes and sensibilities of textiles into clay. Her work sets out to make ceramic forms with movement. The process involves manipulating the clay to form folds, peaks and undulations. An exercise in letting go, to allow the clay to move where it chooses. This practice makes every piece unique.
